Wherwell U15 v Soton Community U15.

After a wet start to the season every opportunity is being taken to fit in a game so on a Monday evening Wherwell hosted Southampton Community.

With the visitors caught in heavy traffic the match was reduced to an agreed 15 overs per side with bowlers allowed a maximum of three overs.

Nick Baughen won the toss and elected to bat first and despite an early run out Steffan Burgess wasn't phased and played well for his 17.

Much of the innings was spent watching Jacob Williams smash the ball around the large outfield.

His innings of 34 retired not out included five fours and a huge six and spurred on those around him to also make contributions as Wherwell mustered a fine total of 109-5.

The visitors never got going in the face of a fine opening spell from Brendon Tasker (2-6) and Burgess three overs for nine and early fielding was spot on with catches taken by Harry Larcombe and Tom Peck.

The first change bowling really finished the game as a contest with Williams, fresh from his batting taking 3-15 and Baughen also getting in on the wickets.

None of the visitors made it into double figures and the result was a 46 victory for Wherwell.
