Whiteparish II v Penton.

Penton travelled to the newly opened ground at Whiteparish and were sent into bat.

The nine players of Whiteparish were going to struggle on their large ground, but the erratic newly laid pitch nearly caught out opener Richard Jenson on his third ball when the wicket keeper Javed Malik failed to catch a comparatively easy ball.

This proved costly for Whiteparish as Richard went on to get 59 before Malik took his second chance.

Wayne Green (19) pushed on before Bevon Joseph (30, Paul Stanford (37) and Steve Patrick (39) took Penton to 226 all out in the 37th over. Best bowling figures were by Ben Wilkinson who took 5-56 off ten overs.

Whiteparish got off to an awkward start when opener Sean Coulshed was bowled by Nilon Liam Joseph in the first over for 0 but Chris Steenkamp (35) and Richard Decosta (20) pushed the score along to 64-3.

Huw Rouse then took a very quick stumping of Ben Wilkinson off Martin Patrick and Stanford then took 4-23 off 4.5 overs as Whiteparish finished on 100 all out leaving Penton at the top of the league.

With just three games remaining before the end of the season, tomorrow’s home game against Knights Valley could prove crucial for the league placings.
