OT and Romsey III v Andover II.

Andover II bounced back from last week’s setback with a comprehensive hammering of OT's and Romsey III who bore the brunt of Andover's frustrations.

With skipper Martin Roberts on first team duty Alex Thompson led the team for the second week running and won what turned out to be a crucial toss.

On a soft, damp pitch Thompson had no hesitation in putting the home team in and Aiden Jansen and Phil Greening took the new ball and Jansen was first to strike.

Greening then stole the show with quick hostile bowling finishing with 3-14 bowling his ten overs straight through. The ever reliable Knight was next to cash in picking up two wickets and the impressive Robin Richards, promoted from the thirds, bowled sharp and accurately picking up three wickets from his ten overs.

Knight finished off the innings with Romsey slumping to 78 all out.

The Andover reply got off to a flying start with Matt Knight taking 16 off the opening over which set the tone for a quick run chase.

Knight (30) and Williams hit the Romsey attack to all parts then Harry Blackburn continued the onslaught hitting a ferocious 32 not out to win the game inside nine overs which propelled Andover back to top of the after last season’s relegation.
