LONGPARISH were crowned champions of the Winchester & District indoor league after a 51-run win over Sparsholt.
Skipper Matt Jackman lost the toss and was asked to have a bat, Andy Worth and Jon Vokes bowled a decent opening spell and Tom Foster picked up the wicket of Michael Taplin.
But 26 for Scott Sturt, 27 for Jackman and 49 from William de Cani pushed the Longparish total on to a respectable 158 for 4. With the big hitting Stuart Tognarelli and Tommy Viljoen opening the batting for Sparsholt, the target was achievable.
But some super bowling by Harry Martin and Ben Gardner and a brilliant run out by Michael Taplin restricted the Sparsholt runs and saw Longparish to their sixth win out of seven and the top division title.
