LONGPARISH moved to top spot of the Hampshire League County Division One after a 10-run victory over visiting Parley, writes CHRIS DE CANI.

After a wet week had hindered pitch preparation Parley won an important toss and invited Longparish to bat on a green top that promised much for the bowler.

At 12-3 in the 10th over the opening spell by Parley's Ollie Green (3-27) looked to be a match winning performance.

However, Paul Blackmore and Tom Trinder added 70 for the fourth wicket before Trinder departed for 33.

Blackmore was dismissed for 38 and Jack Levy hit 50 on a drying track as Longparish posted a respectable 208-7, as Will Samways finished unbeaten on 22.

Opener Mark Stutter (62) ensured that the Parley reply remained on track, but a parsimonious 3-33 from James Bevan and 2-26 for Chris Clarke restricted the Parley reply to 198 all out with seven balls left.

This week, Longparish are away at fifth placed Ropley.

Longparish II travelled to Basingstoke and North Hants IV who batted first and posted 277-5 from their 45 overs.

Longparish's reply was terminated in the 35th for 114 some 163 runs short.

Longparish III made 133-9, but lost at home to rejuvenated neighbours Whitchurch by eight wickets.
