Awayday joy as Hadfield hits Beds for a ton

Andover II made the long trip to Bedhampton and put in a fine all round performance.

The home side choose to bat first on a well prepared pitch and got off to a steady start finding themselves on 59-0 despite a good opening spell from Alex Garman (1-41).

Mike Adams (2-40) was then introduced, taking the first wicket thanks to an outstanding diving catch from Jonty Hadfield (2-19). Hadfield then followed this with a tight bowling spell, and another great catch off his own bowling. A superb all round fielding effort and some tight bowling saw Bedhampton scrap to 216-8 off the 50 overs. The Andover reply got off to a great start and it soon became clear that it was the Hadfield show, as the youngster made a superb (101no) without ever looking like like being dismissed. Opening partner Garman (57) was a great foil for the centurion with an array of shots before finally falling to a catch on the boundary, bringing Mark Copleston (30no) to the crease who saw the team home to a much needed and well deserved nine wicket victory.
