Flushed with success after a successful indoor season at Dummer where they had been crowned champions of the B League after an undefeated campaign, Longparish U13s moved outdoors to take on league newcomers Hedge End.
Brand new covers at the Longparish ground rendered the pitch playable despite the recent bad weather and captain William de Cani won the toss and asked Hedge End to bat. In a devastating first over Brad Aldridge took full advantage of the tricky batting conditions to take three wickets along with a run out to leave Hedge End reeling on 0-4.
Owen Karine, Charles Sherwood and William Jackman all picked up wickets as Hedge End were dismissed for 23 in the 12th over. Longparish lost two early wickets in reply before top scorer Alex Coetzee and wicket keeper Dan Pomroy saw their side to victory by eight wickets in the sixth over.

The paudits must be reserved for the U13s, led by Will de Cani who won all their matches, defeating leaders Yateley in an entralling last game. This was a real team effort by the eight boys who represented the club.
An era has come to an end with the retirement of two sisters, Mrs Joan Hibberd and Mrs Jean Gardner who have been batting for Longparish CC for half a century, serving delicious home made teas and are well known on the Hampshire cricket circuit..
The club will miss them and past and present members thank them for their efforts and hope they will pop in for a chat and a cuppa.
