Team Solent 2 Andover New Street 2.
NEW Street made it four draws on the trot with a come from behind performance at Team Solent on Saturday.
It was a result which pleased manager Phil Andrews but he was quick to point out that they were still searching for the elusive win. “It was a very good day as after 20 minutes we could have been four down” he admitted.
The student side were quick out of the blocks and were 2-0 up inside 20 minutes as New Street were all at sea but soon after Kev Doughty made it 2-1 and Street were back in the hunt. Just on half-time young Ollie Yates equalised to complete an impressive comeback.
“There were chances in the second half but we held on for the point” Andrews said. “We had three on the bench, for a change and that made a lot of difference as that allowed us to put on fresh legs and compete for the full 90 minutes.”
Street finished strong and were good vaue for the draw with Mark Keogh exceptional and Kev Doughty covering every blade of grass as well as finding the net.
Meanwhile Andrews has signed Casson Spencer from Hampshire 2004 Leaguers Andover Lions on dual registration forms and he may be in the squad for Saturday’s game at home to Pewsey Vale. The striker had an earlier spell at Foxcotte Park and it is hoped he may be the lift needed for Street to begin to climb the table.
On the minus side, reserve keeper Cray Sams is out for the rest of the season with knee ligament damage.
