STOCKBRIDGE were edged out of the League Cup by a fine strike by Overton’s Luke Neller in the last few minutes of a lively game.

The Robins had the better of the early chances but failed to make the most of their advantage.

With only five minutes gone a cross from the right by Jazz Beavis found Ashley Childs, whose shot went wide, then Beavis put Childs in again but his shot failed to hit the target.

Beavis was then denied by keeper Sean O’Brien, who did well to keep out his curling free-kick, then Lee Hamilton then went close for the home side.

On the half hour Overton caught Stockbridge on the break and Steve Parry burst through the middle to give his team the lead.

Stockbridge fought back with Beavis and Childs again going close before Hamilton was on hand to equalise after Jake Curtis’s shot had hit the post.

Five minutes into the second half Robin’s keeper Dan Kempson pulled off a brilliant save to deny Neller, but soon after Neller got his reward when he forced the ball home from a corner to put his side in the lead again.

Overton’s Chris Lavisher then saw his header crash against the bar, while at the other end O’Brien did well to stop a Hamilton strike.

Robin’s Kempson then made another fine save from Lavisher before, with ten minutes to go Hutchings levelled the tie with a spectacular strike.

The game looked headed for extra-time, but Neller then struck to put Overton into the next round.
