Andover Saints 1 Swallow 6

CHRIS Knight was the hat-trick hero last weekend as Sunday side Swallow smashed six past the Andover Saints.

The well rested Swallow, who were coming off a two week break, showed their opponents no mercy creating several chances in the opening stages before Shane Lock put them ahead 20 minutes in.

Knight then scored the first of his three goals and added his second minutes later, during an intense ten minute spell.

Robert Readman put the away side 4-0 shortly before half-time with a smashing free-kick that beat both the wall and the Saint’s keeper.

Knight completed his hat-trick seconds after the restart before Shane Lock then rounded off the scoring with Swallow’s sixth goal, 20 minutes from time.

Saints managed to grab a consolation goal with two minutes left on the clock but it was not enough to dampen the mood in the triumphant Swallow camp.

Manager Peter Lock said: “It was one of our best performances of the season.

“We were determined from start to finish and played some really neat football.”

Basingstoke Saints 3 Wolversdene 4

WOLVES had a tricky looking tie away in Basingstoke in the Kelvin Cup and the home side took an early lead but Wolves responded well and got themselves level when a Lee Foyle cross was met by Russ Mount who fired home.

Mikey Davis was then brought down and Mount fired home from the spot but the home side rallied to take the game into extratime.

Wolves were again in front when Lee Burgess fired home and Joe Smith then ran on to a loose ball to give them a cushion.

Steve Morgan was then sent off as the home team had a lifeline from the penalty spot but Wolves saw out the last 20 minutes with the numbers against them. Man of the match was Craig Harman.

Barton Stacey Res 2 Welcome Stranger 2

STACEY Reserves started well but a lack of concentration led to James Rogers heading in at the far post to give Welcome Stranger the lead.

Graham and Co sponsored Barton Reserves took the game to their opponents and their efforts were rewarded when Mali Colorado broke into the penalty area and was fouled and James Burgess converted the penalty.

Barton then went on to take the lead after good work by Hayden Elkins setting up Ross Allen to score.

After the break the first ten minutes was all Barton but Welcome Stranger came back into the game and equalised through Marc Dennis.

For the rest of the match it was end to end with Toby Giles pulling off a double save in the Barton Stacey goal to ensure the game ended all square.
