STOCKBRIDGE beat league leaders Baffins Milton Rovers 2-1 on a cold afternoon at the Recreation Ground, with Dave Cotter getting both goals.

The Robins were without a number of players including Jazz Beavis, Ashley Childs and Jack Hutchings but included in the squad was Mike Barker who has made a welcome return to the club.

The game was a real mixture with no quarter given with some robust challenges going in but both sides played some good football at times although guilty of sloppy defending at times.

With only nine minutes gone Baffins took the lead through Lenny Burney when he somehow got the ball past Dan Kempson at the near post when the keeper looked like he was going to make a comfortable save but minutes later Kempson pulled off two fine saves to prevent the visitors going further ahead.

Stockbridge began to get on top with young Jake Marsh working hard up front and Joe Wright and Jake Freemantle looking solid at the back and got their rewards for their efforts on 24 minutes when the lively Cotter levelled.

Early in the second half Kempson did well to push over an effort from Baffins’ Jake Cozens and soon after Robins’ Marsh had an effort saved on the line by a defender.

On 77 minutes Bffins hit the post when it was easier to score and three minutes later Baffins’ keeper Tom Hale made a mess of clearing and Cotter was on hand to put the ball into the net to give the Robins a good victory.

Tomorrow Stockbridge are away to Locks Heath.
