Andover Town suffered one of their worst defeats in their history last Wednesday night as they were thrashed 5-1 at relegation threatened Christchurch.

Andover were able to take an early lead through Michael Dixon but it was short lived however, as in the 17th minute Jack Lovell crossed and Dan Saul was on hand to bundle the ball home.

Charlie Gunson went close then a good corner routine from Christchurch left defender John Grace with a tap in at the back post and secured a 2-1 lead going into the break.

Christchurch went 3-1 up when substitute and former Town youngster Callum Cunnife-Piley fell in the box and captain Mark Smith sent Michael Weatherall the wrong way from the spot.

Manager Benson attempted to plug the defensive gap but Grace grabbed his second, once again from a corner and the evening was made worse for Town as they were reduced to ten men with substitute Claudio Herbert seeing straight red for kicking out after a tackle,

With Andover a man down they were powerless to stop Christchurch substitute Marcus Cullen completing the rout.
