WITH both teams in recent good form this had the making of a good game and it didn’t disappoint as New Street took their run to five games unbeaten.

Casson Spencer shot wide with only the keeper to beat before Romsey took the lead after a loss of concentration in the defence.

New Street went search of the equaliser and on 36 minutes Harry Burt found Harvey Redstone who drove home from 30 yards.

Street started to get on top and Spencer put them ahead from a Shane Lock pass just before the break.

The second half started with Sam Catton’s superb penalty save then Spencer netted again after good work from Liam Wilkins. The game was then held up as Allen Ralph was taken to hospital with an ankle injury and when it resumed Romsey got back into the game with another spot kick. Street reshuffled and at the death Spencer completed his hattrick to seal the win.

Manager Paul Reidy said: “I have nothing but praise for the players they all worked hard and Casson deserved his hat-trick today to cap a fine performance.”

Andover New Street 2 Hythe and Dibden 1

GOALS from Steve Turner and Harry Burt gave New Street a fine win over Hythe and Dibden on Saturday to take their unbeaten run to four games.

Hythe started better and deservedly took the lead after eight minutes through Mark Lilley but New Street tweaked their formation to stop Hythe controlling the game and it paid off with Burt dictating midfield and he found Turner who headed home.

On a tricky pitch both teams played some good football and Hythe came back at Street but keeper Dave Witcher was equal to them.

The hard working Casson Spencer caused Hythe’s defence problems all day and with Liam Wilkins and Shane Lock running at Hythe it was no surprise when Wilkins won a free-kick 20 yards outside the box.

Burt’s shot took a deflection and found its way in just before the halfhour.

After the break Lock’s run and shot was saved then Wilkins and Spencer both went close while at the other end Zac McNally, John Robb, Turner and Jack Whitlock stood tall and kept Hythe at bay.

Manager Paul Reidy said: “I am so pleased with the lads’ performance.

“They worked so hard for each other and I believe we deserved that win – everyone played their part.

“We are showing in this league that we are hard to beat and are now unbeaten in our last four games.

“As a team and club we are going in the right direction and that can only be good for the future.”
