Barton Stacey won the Kelvin Cup at their first attempt in a thrilling final at Hampshire FA’s Winklebury HQ with a 4-2 win against Republic of Chineham.

The first 20 minutes were even with the teams testing each other out before Barton Stacey`s midfield took control and were rewarded with a headed goal by Nic Turpin and a second from man of the match Dane Adams.

Terry Mthimkhulu was proving to be a real handful as Barton dominated but on the stroke of half-time a lack of concentration allowed Chineham to score.

Chineham came out searching for an equaliser and were soon rewarded and both teams went searching for the winner with Turpin going close on several but thwarted by the Chineham goalkeeper and at the other end Dan de Heaume made a couple of good saves.

In extra-time a Jack Hutchings’ mis-hit shot landed at Dave Cotter’s feet and he swept it home for Barton to restore their lead. In the second half the game went end to end and Chineham laid seige on Barton`s goal before Turpin scored and Barton Stacey were crowned cup winners.
