TEAM FALCONS brought home no less than 17 medals at the Edinburgh Open – including four golds, five silvers and eight bronze.
As a whole the squad fought well with some good performances from senior fighters Brandon Prince, Callum Hollinshead and Tidworth coach Jon Van Den Heuvel, while the girls really stepped up their game.
Paris Mitchell, daughter of Team Falcons coach Gordon, made her debut in the team event against Top Ten UK, one of the top teams in the country.
As expected, it was a one-way affair with the Top Ten girls dominating the opening exchanges.
Paris eventually got over her nerves to land three unanswered points at the end of the fight – not bad for a beginner fighting a black belt from one of the UK’s best teams.
The team experience set her up for her beginner and intermediate sections where she went on to take a gold and a silver in what is only her second competition.
There is undoubtedly more to come from her.
The remaining girls also went on to win medals with Sophie Robinson and Abbie Hollinshead both taking silver in their respective divisions.
Lorna Meikle took gold and bronze in the +65kg beginner and intermediate divisions.
It was a good day for all of the girls but coach Mitchell was particularly impressed with Robinson, who put in her best display to date.
