UNBEATEN Andover Town rounded up their busy pre-season schedule with a comfortable 4-1 win over Andover New Street on Saturday.

Town, who have triumphed in all but one of their off-season fixtures this summer, were aided by two goals from new signing James Jennings as they dominated their lower league neighbours.

The Wessex Premier League outfit, playing as the home side at Sparsholt College, looked bright from the off and should have taken the lead early on through Sammy Pekun.

The winger nicked the ball from the New Street defence and charged in on goal, only to be denied by a last ditch challenge as he shot.

Town continued to push for an opener but were denied multiple times by New Street stopper David Tasker who pulled off a string of top quality saves to keep them at bay.

Town finally did make the breakthrough shortly before the half-hour mark following another fantastic save from Tasker, however his stop unfortunately fell to Jennings, who cleverly held the ball up before laying on Danillo Cadette for an easy tap in.

Jennings was rewarded for his unselfish play ten minutes later after a silky run from Pekun opened up ample space for the striker, who lashed it into the top corner from inside the box.

A resolute Tasker continued to fight on however and was forced to make one more top save before the referee called time on the first half.

Town continued their dominance after the break and had an appeal for a penalty after ten minutes, but the claim was quickly dismissed.

The home side did extend their lead to three goals soon after however following a bizarre goalmouth scramble.

Lewis Benson made a bursting run through the New Street defence but had his shot parried out to Pekun who hit the crossbar with his effort before the ball fell to Jennings to calmly roll into the bottom corner.

New Street pulled one back with ten minutes to go from when Liam Wilkins headed from a right wing cross but Cadette's second goal of the match ensured there would be no comeback.

The winger cruised past the New Street defence with a clever dummy before squeezing the ball inside the goalkeeper's near post to give Town a deserved 4-1 victory.

Town will now open their season against Moneyfields away on Saturday before they play another away game against Team Solent on Monday night.

Meanwhile Andover New Street will kick their season off away at East Cowes Victoria on Saturday.
