ANDOVER Town endured a difficult week after being knocked out of the FA Cup once more before suffering a heartbreaking penalty shoot-out loss in the Hants Senior Cup just three days later.

Town, who have made an impressive start to their league campaign, continued their mixed form in cup games and now find themselves left with the FA Vase as their only knock-out competition this season.

The Portway-based club, who were handed an FA Cup lifeline last week after opponents Hamworthy were found to have fielded a suspended player, returned to the County Ground on Saturday hoping to improve on their last meeting, which ended in a disappointing 4-1 defeat.

However Hamworthy re-earned themselves a spot in the next round of the FA Cup, beating Town 2-1, despite Danillo Cadette opening thescoring for Andover.

Town then made a trip down to Totton and Eling for their Hants Senior Cup Round 2 tie on Tuesday night.

They looked as if they would progress easily as two quick goals from James Jennings and Thomas Wright on the stroke of half time gave them a commanding lead.

However the home side came out fighting in the second half and had leveled the scoring at 2-2 shortly after the hour mark.

The game remained tied and went to penalties, with Totton and Eling sneaking through with a score of 5-4.
