ANDOVER New Street’s poor run of form continued as they fell to a 4-1 home defeat at the hands of Christchurch.

Street, who have now lost their last seven consecutive games, were looking to get back to winning ways against a team who were also hoping to recover from a disappointing 3-0 home defeat against Downton the previous week.

New Street settled well despite the game’s scrappy nature, however it was Christchurch who took the lead after 21 minutes.

The home side responded well and some good play between Ben Morris and Prince Xhamela after 36 minutes set up Zac Peters who smashed his volley straight into the top corner.

The fine strike meant the teams went in level at the break but Christchurch came out the stronger side and scored another three goals in the second half.

The Christchurch goals came through Will Gage, Elliot Goward, Luke Stone and Matthew Swindlehurst.

After the match, manager Paul Reidy said: “We are in a bit of a rut at the moment and confidence is low but we are working hard together to get out of this and I believe our next win isn’t far away.

“It has not been easy of late with a few injuries and players unavailable but everyone is back now and we have all had a chat together and are committed to turning things round.”
