Andover RBL 2 Welcome Stranger 2

ANDOVER RBL maintained their unbeaten run by the skin of their teeth on Sunday, needing a late equaliser to draw 2-2 against Welcome Stranger.

The away side started strongly but RBL soon had chances, forcing Stranger’s keeper Mike Horne to make several important saves.

However, RBL scored before half time to go in 1-0 up at the break.

Stranger came out all guns blazing and got back on level terms through a route one kick which Luke Soulby latched on to and dispatched.

Stranger continued to play the better football and got their reward when captain Richard Arnold was fouled on the edge of the box and Soulby got his second from the free kick.

With time running out RBL pressed again and got back on level terms once more to retain their unbeaten run.

AFC Wolves 3 Vernham Dean 3

A BEN Morris hat-trick helped Vernham Dean earn a 3-3 draw away at AFC Wolves.

The Division Two sides battled out a six goal thriller with Vernham going ahead early on through Morris.

Wolves equalised while Vernham were reduced to ten men just before half time.

Vernham battled on and took a two goal lead with Morris geting both before Wolves levelled the scoring through two penalty kicks.

Twinings  3 FC Anton 2

FC ANTON produced another spirited performance in defeat against a high flying Twinings side.

Anton faced a promotion chasing team for the second consecutive week after losing 2-1 to league leaders George SMB last Sunday.

However the away side once again gave their opponents a run for their money.

Both teams started well and had chances in an entertaining end to end match.

Twinings should have taken the lead from the spot, but a poorly taken penalty was easily saved by Anton keeper Aaron Perry.

Twinings took the lead shortly after but the goal was quickly cancelled out by a Nick McGregor equaliser.

With a couple of minutes left in the first half Twinings restored their lead.

The second half was just as entertaining as the first and Richie Taylor scored for Anton to level the game once more.

Anton then stepped up the pace and could have taken the lead but failed to finish.

In the last minute of the match Twinings netted the winner from a corner to snatch all three points.

FC Anton's man-of-the-match was young Liam Ryan.
