ANDOVER New Street’s footballing chief Glen Butterfield says the club “got their man” after they announced the appointment of Dean Hutchins as first team manager.

The former Stockbridge boss officially accepted the role at the Wessex League Division One club on Monday following Paul Reidy’s resignation last week.

Following the announcement Mr Butterfield, who is the club’s football chairman, told the Andover Advertiser: “We are more than happy to get Dean into the club.

“I’ve known him along time because he used to play for me when I was a manager.

“I’ve kept an eye on him and I liked what he was trying to achieve at Stockbridge and his style of football.

“He was our number one target.”

Talking about outgoing manager Paul Reidy, he added: “Paul did a fantastic job over the last two years.

“I personally felt he was stepping down too soon and felt he would have had a bit more success if he had kept going.

“But he said that the time was right and you have to respect that.

“He’s still going to be involved with the club and I will still be working with him closely.”
