WHITCHURCH United manager Carl Bennett says star man Danny Phillips will be a Jam Boy this season despite the striker agreeing on a move to Blackfield and Langley.
The striker, who bagged 26 goals during United’s last campaign, looked set to be playing his football with the Watersiders after agreeing to play for the Wessex Premier League title candidates this season.
However Bennett claims the skilful front man has agreed to return to Whitchurch and will be signed on at the club before the start of the new season.
He told the Advertiser: “Danny is staying with us this season.
“When he told me he had moved to Blackfield I was disappointed but he went with our wishes.
“He texted me the other day to say he wanted to play for us this year and so we are just in the process of sorting out the paperwork.
“He’ll be with us by the start of the season.”
One player who will be swapping Longmeadow for the Gang Warily however is goalkeeper Brad Snelling.
Bennett said: “In my eyes he is the best goalkeeper in the league.
“They’ve done well there.
“We are in the process of sorting a replacement at the moment.”
