A PROMISING Andover boxer has won his first professional fight – and is now preparing to take to the ring once more.

Brandon Thomson beat Jack Green 40-36 on all judge’s scorecards during his fight with the Devon born boxer at the York Hall in Bethnal Green on Saturday 26 September.

The 20-year-old stuck to his game plan in the first round, and nearly ended the fight early on with a dominant display from the bell.

In the second round the Andover boxer, who idolises the likes of Ricky Hatton and Sugar Ray Leonard, continued on the front foot in the second, landing shots to the head and body.

Thomson relaxed in the third round and start to enjoy his boxing, but Green stuck in well and carried the fight over to the final bell.

However, it was still a comprehensive victory for Thomson, who was ahead on all of the judge’s the scorecards.

Thomson is now preparing for his second professional fight, this time against experienced fighter Fonz Alexander.

The Nottingham boxer has had over 40 fights and has boxed on both Sky Sports and Box Nation.

However Thomson, who will fight Alexander on Saturday 26 November, remains confident.

He said: “He is a very strong and come forward fighter.

“But me and my coach and management know I will be too much for him.

“So they will put me in a good place, ready to step it up and if possible look for my first title fight next year.”
