ANDOVER Golf Club handed over a cheque for £1,100 to Prostate Cancer UK last month.

The Winchester Road-based club raised the money during its Presidents and Prostate Awareness Day (PAPA), held in August.

It was an emotional day for club members, who had lost president Roger Crook to the disease, just two months before the event took place.

The club also lost past president Bryon Tarrant to prostate cancer.

The day was an incredible success with family and friends together, celebrating Mr Crook’s life, sharing memories of his golfing adventures and how he had been a such stalwart member of the club.

Mick Tobin, dressed in colourful clothing, lifted the Presidents Cup was Mick Tobin with 41 points.

The day also included a putting competition, raffle and a halfway house ensuring the players were well fed and watered.

Mr Crook’s wife, Jan and daughter Beth were there throughout the day, meeting members and presenting the winners with their well-earned prizes.

With all prizes for the day donated from family and friends of Mr Crook, it meant the entry fees and raffle proceeds went to Prostate Cancer UK.

In total the day raised £1,100 which was presented to Jack Bacon from Prostate Cancer UK at Andover Golf Club on Friday, December 2 by Mr Crook’s family and friends from the club, in loving memory of him and Mr Tarrant.
