A TALENTED Andover athlete showed off his skills at one of the country’s biggest school sporting events - despite being a year younger than most of his opponents.
Young high jump star Adam Robinson was selected to compete in the Under 15 group at the English Schools’ Athletics Championships, held in Birmingham earlier this month, even though he is only 13.
Despite being ranked number one high jumper in the UK in his age group, the talented Andover Athletics star was unlikely to qualify for the tournament due to his young age.
But after training hard over the winter, Adam started the season with a new PB 1.70m in Winchester, which meant he met the qualifying height for the English Schools’ Athletics Championships.
He went on to do high jump in county and inter-county competitions, jumping a new PB of 1.76, and was selected to be part of the Hampshire team for the tournament.
At the competition, held at Alexander Stadium, Birmingham, he placed a respectful 7th out of 18 high jumpers and hopes to compete again next year.
