Andover New Street FC made it 6 points from 6 after beating, the well-backed for promotion, AFC Fawley 1 nil at Foxcotte Park with the single goal coming from the prolific Zach Neve.

It was the home side who started off the brightest and after a clever ball from Callum Sweeney, Casson Spencer’s glancing header edged past the far post.

New Street continued to threaten Conor Beattie’s goal in the opening 30 minutes with Neve crashing a shot against the bar and Spencer hitting the side netting on the follow up. The pegs on the side netting seemed to show their worth as Street’s frontmen, Sweeney and Neve, both had efforts the wrong side of the post.

It was Fawley’s Josh McPhee who had the first half’s best chance as he found himself unmarked in the box with the keeper to beat. The striker however had a poor first touch which resulted in a great tackle from Street’s Wade Crisp.

Both sides went into half time thinking they should have scored.

AFC Fawley were the side to find rhythm in the second half and took full advantage of the slope. Some heroic defending and young New Street midfielder Jordan Pettergell making a wonderful goal-line clearance it appeared with 10 minutes to go the game would sizzle out into a goalless draw. This was not to be.

Street found themselves in their second consecutive down to 10 men. A dangerous tackle from Jesse Todd saw the midfielder receive a straight red card and an early shower.

The game now swinging in Fawley’s favour but with just 6 minutes left on the clock, Street had managed to win a corner. Sweeney delivered a great cross which was met by Neve who powered a header in and put New Street in front.

Fawley however continued to put pressures on Dave Tasker’s goal. 2 goal mouth scrambles and Matt Spencer blazing over meant New Street were heading towards a clean sheet and an important win.

Street however did manage to have two chances to see off the opposition. Oliver Yates with the first, as the forever running wingman sprinted the full length of the pitch to see his left foot strike go wide and debutant Louis Attril from 10 yards, just the keeper to beat, managed to take a large swipe at the ball making no contact and ending up in a heap.

The whistle blew fulltime and Street were winners and continued the unbeaten run,
