LEADERS Andover New Street are two points ahead of the chasing pack in Division One.

For New Street it is a rags to riches story, as a year ago they were bottom of the pile, but an impressive 4-1 win over Downton last Saturday, saw them return to the pole position.

Gunner Yates opened the scoring, before Downton levelled from a free-kick.

Gary Thorne, Casson Spencer made it 2-1 on the hour and soon after centre half Gary Thorne scored from a corner.

Zac Hine added a fourth in the final minutes of the game.

New Street manager John Smith said: “I am delighted in the year we have had and it is nice to be back at the top. Once we scored our second against Downton we never looked back.”

This Saturday, New Street are away to Ringwood.
