WHERWELL Royals capped a fine season with a 3-2 victory in the Junior Challenge Cup Final against SParTEN A.
SParTEN started well and had an early goal ruled out for offside, before Wherwell settled into their stride.
The winners took the lead after some slick team play saw Matt Casson set up man of the match Terry Anderson for the opening goal.
SParTEN responded well and continued to bring the challenge to Wherwell and were rewarded with an equaliser before another well worked piece of play was finished off by Matt Casson.
Starting the second half all square at 2-2 both teams had chances to take control of the game early on with Wherwell rattling the woodwork.
With 15 minutes left, George Lixandru calmly slotted in the winner to give Wherwell the trophy.
