NEW Andover New Street boss Glen Butterfield was given an early boost this week when all five of his Andover-based players from last season turned up on his doorstep together complete with signing on forms.
Top scorer Nic Turpin, who has been the target of a number of clubs since Glen’s departure from Amesbury Town, headed the cast alongside keeper Danny Harrison and centre half Chris Smith. Also in on the act were striker Chris Berntsen and Jason Harsant, who can play up front or in the centre of defence. Butterfield is also expecting to complete the signings of defender John Robb, right back Antony Waters and left back Adam McArthur.
Former Lions’ favourites Glen Damen and Vinnie Rusher are also said to be joining the squad as pre season training approaches.
It will be an exciting time at Foxcotte Park as stawart Stuart Anderson is to enjoy a richly deserved testimonial on August 1, at 6.30pm against a Hampshire Select XI.
Training begins for New Street this Thursday at Charlton Leisure Centre from 7pm and everyone is welcome. More details from Glen on 07711300858
