Test Valley took the honours in the Weighell Trophy last week

A late match in the Weighill Trophy team handicap competition saw Figheldean lose 4-5 to Test Valley B. Matt Selwood and Jonny Macey won two each for Test Valley and with one from Neil McDonald secured a good win against very experienced opponents.

In Division 1 Tigers continued their predictable rise to the top of the table with wins over Hanson A 8-2 and Hanson B 10-0. Andy Snellgrove and Malcolm Cummins were too good for the opposition winning all their six matches, while Jerry Holt won all three against Hanson B. Dan Geary and Peter Henderson of Hanson A spoiled Tigers’ party by beating Jerry Holt.

Pumas had mixed fortunes, losing to Figheldean 4-6 but beating a two man Hanson C 6-4. Richard Fettes was the hero for Pumas winning all three against Figheldean. Jamie Smith had a good night winning two for Hanson C.

Hanson B took further punishment, losing 1-9 to Hanson A, for whom Josh White and Steve Rollason both won three. The consolation point for Hanson B came when Richard Biles beat Dan Geary in five games 10-12, 11-9, 6-11, 11-7, 11-7. Full story in Friday's Advertiser
