Andover GC go close in Centenary Trophy
12:00am Tuesday 8th October 2013 in Other Sport
Andover Golf Club sent a team of six, Pete Allen, Tom Smith, Paul Warmington, Peter Scott, Mick Batchelor and Mark Gates and two ladies Ann Allen and Brit Kitson to Waterlooville GC to play in the Centenary Trophy competition.
There were seven clubs in the competition which is open to Hampshire clubs that have had their centenary since the year 2000. Waterlooville is a long and testing course and on a breezy day proved quite a challenge for all.
Andover acquitted themselves very well and finished second, only beaten by the hosts on their own ground.
The after match hospitality was first rate and much enjoyed by all and next year’s Centenary Trophy will be hosted by Basingstoke GC with two more teams becoming eligible.
