Andover Triathlon Club’s James Barber had a great start to his 2014 season by clocking up two first places in recent events.

The first saw him take on the New Forest running festival 10k trail run where he led from the start and won in a fantastic 38:11.

The second was at Avon Aquathlon at Durrington comprising of a 500m pool swim followed by a 5km run on Salisbury Plain.

James took first place in 26:45 and was joined by club members Carrie Power in ninth in 32:48, Tracey Daniels 21st with a time of 40:03 and Susan Hazard who finished in 27th in 45:10.

A little further north in Newbury four more members completed the Newbury Duathlon, another well organised event run by Team Kennet and comprising of a 5km run and 25km bike, finishing with a 5km run based in and around Chieveley near Newbury.

Dan Mason led the way finishing in 11th place overall with a great time of 1:28:07, followed by Judit Leszkovich 38th overall, third female, and first female age category, Sarah-Jane Fox in 74th overall, third female age category and Lisa Hill finished in a great 2:02:54.

This was a great start to the club’s season and a great way of showcasing the hard work that each member has put into training over the winter months.
