Nineteen year old Andover Archer Jake Burn was part of the triumphant Archery GB’s squad who won the Junior Men’s Compound Team Silver at the European Outdoor Youth Championships at Ljubljana, Slovenia recently.

Along with teammmates Jordan Mitchell and Jonathan Bull, the team won a tense semi-final against Russia before being beaten to the gold medal by a Swedish team who were on exemplary form.

In winning the silver, the Great Britain team showed that all their hard training during the build up to the event had paid off.

Simon Scott, compound youth coach of Archery GB, said: “Jordan, Jonathan and Jake really showed their individual shooting strengths during the tournament.

‘They also worked fantastically together as a team and clearly enjoyed every moment of the gold medal match. They have proved themselves to be some of the best archers in their age group in Europe and we hope that they can continue their success on the world stage too.”

There was plenty of success for Archery GB in Ljubljana, with the squad taking home a Men’s Team Cadet Recurve gold, a Ladies’ Team Cadet Compound bronze and a Men’s Cadet Team Compound bronze.

As a result, Great Britain finished seventh in the overall medal table. The European Outdoor Youth Championships has been held since 2000 and is organised by the European World Archery Federation.
