Andover Swimming and Water Polo Club once again gained success at the Hampshire County Championships held recently at the Waterlooville 25m pool and the Portsmouth 50m pool. In the girls age nine to 12 200m freestyle relay, Eleanor Williams, Tierney Goddard, Madison Stepney and Georgina Butler’s time of 2. 07.53 sec earned bronze out of 37 teams including much larger clubs such as Portsmouth and Southampton. This was the same team that last year in the very same race at the County Championships came 17th and obtaining third this year is a considerable achievement. They were joined by Lily Mears, Ellie Smith, Paige Bayliss, Theo Shoemark, Alex Lee and Carl Bodsworth. Lee won bronze in the boys’ age 16 200m breaststroke in 2. 55.75. The championships ended with Paige winning silver in the girls’ age 19 50m freestyle in 30.23. She then won a further silver in the 100m freestyle with a time of 1.09.36. www.andoverswimming.co.uk
