The Hampshire Golf Club seniors played their latest friendly recently away to East Horton. In match one senior captain Ray Neath partnered Fred Keylock and being three down after just four holes was not on the agenda.

However, the pair fought back and were just one down after 11 holes. Sadly the next three were lost to some good scoring resulting in a 4 and 3 win in favour of the home pairing. In match two Bob Houghton and vice-captain Alan Dixon got off to a bad start, finding themselves six down at one point. They then picked up their game and fought back well to be only one down with just the 18th hole to play. Unfortunately they could only halve this hole and so lost one down.

Richard Hale and Ron Wake did not have a good day at the office as they lost 5 and 3 but Ted Richard and Norman French claimed the first victory for the away side. Both played well and complemented each other as they ran out winners 5 and 3. In match five Mick Mumford and Guy Davis played together but thanks to some impressive golf by the 20 handicapper in the home pairing, they ran out comfortable winners by 5 and 4.

In the last match John Rogers and Barrie Thompson were paired and they are probably the most consistent pairing of the summer season. Once again they played well and won 4 and 3. Barrie is unbeaten in all summer matches to date which is a wonderful achievement which hopefully he can continue until the end of the season. The captain hopes the wheels do not fall off for him as they did on his trolley during the match as he started with three wheels and finished with two! The overall result was a 4-2 win for East Horton.
