Andover 6 Gosport 5.

Andover started their first league game positively dominating possession and making chances but a lack of concentration allowed Gosport to score a short corner against the run of play to take the lead early.

Andover quickly bounced back allowing Jamie Hacker to get an equaliser and steady the first game nerves.

With the equaliser came a good passage of play, building chances right back from defence and this allowed Sam Cowley to take the lead.

However it was short lived and Andover soon squandered chance after chance which gave Gosport hope and keeping their heads high they scored three quick goals to take a 4-2 lead at half-time.

Andover started the second half brightly, getting good ball possession and linking defence to attack well and scored four goals in a row to take a commanding 6-4 lead.

Gosport piled on the pressure to make the score 6-5 but Andover battled hard to hold on. Scorers were Jamie Hacker 3 and Sam Cowley 3.

Andover II 6 Hamble II 3.

Andover II got their league campaign off to a winning start with a 6-3 home victory over Hamble II.

Doubles from Ben Anthony and Ivan Daley as well as solo efforts from Matt Weymouth and Will Turner sealed the comfortable win.

Andover were quickly out of the blocks with Hamble unable to deal with the intensity which allowed Anthony to twice slot home in the opening ten minutes.

Weymouth extended the lead with a neat deflection shortly before the break and on the stroke of half-time Daley exchanged passes with Turner and finished coolly.

Hamble were able to find the net in the second half but further goals from Turner and a thunderstrike from Ivan Daley completed a fine victory.
