RUNNERS from Andover Athletic Club competed in both of November’s Hampshire Road Race League events.
They were among 499 entrants who completed the Lordshill ten mile road race, mostly through peaceful scenic countryside, and 1,604 on the new Gosport half marathon route along the sea front at Lee-On-The- Solent.
At Lordshill Kay Noyce led the ladies home in 1:10:09 to claim fifth place in her age category, followed by Caroline Bennett in 1:29:16.
Matt Dewey led the men’s team home with a PB of 57:57, followed by Dougie Brisco (1:02:53, first over 60 and a new club record), Rob Cliffe (1:03:12 and third over 50), Archie McKellar (1:03:46, third junior and club record), Chris Dewey (1:03:50) and Tim Bennett (1:12:20).
At Gosport Matt Dewey again led the men’s team home with a PB of 1:15:15, followed by Brisco (1:22:58, first over 60 and a new club record), Chris Dewey (1:24:36), Cliffe (1:30:29) and Bennett (1:34:02).
The ladies’ team was led home by Janey Parker (1:52:38), followed by Caroline Bennett (1:59:47) and Janice Cook (2:04:52).
Andover AC ladies are ninth in Division 2 and the men’s team is second in Division 2.
Training takes place at the clubhouse near the Charlton Athletic track at 6pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and the next league event is the Stubbington 10k on January 18.
