ANDOVER Ladies’ winning run continued last weekend as they beat local rivals Basingstoke 3-1.

Lizzie Vincent was on target again, bagging a brace as her side recorded their third consecutive victory.

Second-placed Basingstoke started well but it was Andover who broke the deadlock when Vincent unleashed a trademark reverse stick shot which flew past the away sides goalkeeper.

Hazel Stacey was then forced to make some big saves at the other end but Basingstoke finally got a goal shortly before half-time.

Andover regained their lead after the break with some quick play from Vincent, setting up Jacqui West who calmly slid the ball through the legs of the advancing goalkeeper.

Basingstoke tried hard to level again but it was Vincent who took the game beyond the visitors, showing some great individual skill to beat the goalkeeper and easily slot home into an open goal.

There was also success for Andover Hockey Club Ladies’ second side, who got back to winning ways with a 4-0 win over rivals Eastleigh.

Louise Cuff scored from a very acute angle after a scramble to score the opening goal.

Cuff then turned provider when she pulled the ball back for Janelle Griffiths Jones to sweep home.

Eastleigh were a constant threat on the break with some fast forwards outpacing Andover’s defence.

Dana Shelley in the Andover goal was in superb form making several vital saves to keep her team in the lead.

Eastleigh once again hesitated in defence and a perfect through ball from Hannah Cowley to Jacqui West saw the skipper calmly slot the ball home for a convincing halftime lead.

Andover could not relax however as Eastleigh kept pressing to get back into the game.

Once again Shelley was on form in goal to keep the ball out and Andover rode their luck a little when they also hit the post. Going forward Immy Collins looked threatening and man of the match Katie Evans worked tirelessly up and down the pitch.

Andover finally put the game to bed when Griffiths Jones fired home her second after a fine passing move.
