Mr Crook says he intends to maintain the history and tradition of the golf club going forward.

He told the Andover Advertiser: “I am delighted, and consider it a privilege to be elected as president of this historic golf club.

“I see my role and duty as president, to encourage and support the continuing promotion of Andover Golf Club.

“The club has, for more than 110 years, provided an important sporting and social facility to the town of Andover and its surrounding areas.”

Mr Tarrant, who has been a member of the town centre golf club for over 60 years, will remain as director of the club.
