STARS of the British Touring Car world took to Donington Park Circuit for a Test Day ahead of the 2016 season, writes Taco Jonkman.

32 drivers, from 11 different manufactures attended the day, held on 22 March - the largest entry in the competition's history.

Defending champion Gordon Shedden was out on the track as was Hampshire driver Rob Collard in his BMW1 Series for Team JCT600 with GardX.

Also on track was the new manufacturer entry, Subaru Levorg with 2 multiple BTCC champions Jason Plato and Colin Turkington taking up the task of making the car into a race winner.

The team will be called Team BMR.

During the afternoon testing session, at Donning Park Circuit, Matt Neal set the fasted time of 1 minute 10.140 seconds in the last few remaining minutes of the 4 hour session.

The second and third fastest time were set by Ashley Sutton (MG Racing) in 1 minute 10.231 seconds and Rob Austin (Handy Motorsport, Toyata Avensis) in 1 minute 10.297 seconds.

Hampshire's Rob Collard set a time of 1 minute 10.672 seconds and was 12 overall.

The first race of the British Touring Car season was held at Brands Hatch Indy circuit on the 2nd and 3rd April with round three to be held at Thruxton on 7 May.
