ANDOVER Hockey Club Men’s Firsts smashed struggling Test Valley rivals Romsey 7-0 to keep their promotion dreams alive.

Jamie Hacker and Hayden Jenkins both scored braces as the Firsts made light work of their winless opponents, who sit second from bottom in the Hampshire/Surrey Regional Division Two.

Romsey started well and created two chances early on to take the lead.

However the game spiralled out of control midway through the first half when a defensive mix up allowed Hacker an easy opportunity to open the scoring.

Jenkins then scored from a well worked penalty corner.

Romsey suffered a blow when Lewis Birch was sent off on 20 minutes, after allegedly using foul language towards the officials.

Not recovering from the confusion surrounding this event, Romsey never really settled into the fixture and haemorrhaged goals throughout.

Hacker and Jenkins both added to their earlier goals, while Daniel Allen and Olly Bridge grabbed a goala-piece.

James Pawley completed the scoring to earn Andover a comfortable 7-0 victory.
