Andover made changes with Rob Jackson and Andy Thomas dropping back to flank Rob Oostendorp in a new look defensive line.
Southampton had some fast breakaways and less than three minutes had passed when they went ahead with a penalty stroke.
Andover created chances for Jamie Hacker up front and quickly restored parity when Hacker found Richard Moore from a free-hit and the Andover skipper slotted home. The second half saw Andover pushing for the next goal and it came when a dizzying run from Luke Cole led to a pass to Hacker who scored neatly.
Andover suffered a double blow when both Hacker and Jackson were sin-binned however, some sturdy defending and good wing play from George Allmark saw them ride the pressure until they were restored and they scored their third through Moore.
Doug Strickland took the plaudits as he made some fine saves and Andover saw out the game without trouble.
