Andover II 81 Eastleigh III 10.

Jody Morgan’s Hinds returned to winning ways against Eastleigh III at the Goodship Ground.

Eastleigh travelled with only 12 players and Andover offered them three to make this a rewarding game for all.

With the wise heads of Tim Gibbs at scrum half and Danny Gillan on the flank Andover soon had Eastleigh camped it their own 22 and Henry Rennison crashed over for a try, converted by Johny Rogers. It was not long before Bert Baxter found his way through to add a second try and again the steady boot of Rogers made it 14-0 within 20 minutes. Andover found themselves defending their own line but as the forwards dug deep Morgan made a darting run and offloaded to Dan Joliffe who found Matt Stott for the first of his two tries.

The floodgates started to open and tries came from J Rennison, H Rennison, Gillan and Rogers and an Eastleigh penalty made it 45-3 at half-time.

After the break Morgan swapped to play for Eastleigh who scored a try through the workings of Morgan and man of the match, Will Horn, another Andover player, but another six Andover tries softened this. Richard Oliver’s score was the pick of the second half as he dummied his own players then dived across the line for his first try for the seconds.
