Boy, 16, quizzed over fatal crash
A teenager arrested after a seven-year-old boy was hit and killed by a car at a caravan site is still being questioned by police.
The 16-year-old boy was allegedly driving a BMW car at Shirenewton caravan site, east of Cardiff, south Wales, when the incident happened at 3pm on Saturday.
He was arrested soon after and remains in police custody, where he is being questioned on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
The seven-year-old boy, who has not been named, is from the caravan site and was "apparently in collision with a red BMW 3rd series estate," police said.
He died from injuries sustained in the accident after being taken to hospital. Specially-trained police officers are with his family.
South Wales Police made a fresh appeal for any witnesses to the accident to come forward.
"A 16-year-old male arrested yesterday on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving remains in police custody," a police spokesman said.
"Officers investigating the incident are still appealing for witnesses. Anyone with information is asked to contact South Wales Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
