Police have launched a murder investigation after the death of an elderly man.
Officers called to an address in Cambridge Road, Bromley, south east London at about 10.40am today found the body of a 71-year-old man, Scotland Yard said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene by London Ambulance Service.
A 30-year-old man was arrested nearby on suspicion of murder. He has been taken into custody at a south London police station.
Next of kin of the victim are aware but officers await formal identification.
A post-mortem examination is yet to be scheduled but will not take place today.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "We await the results to determine the nature of the victim's injuries."
Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating and an incident room has been opened under Detective Chief Inspector Graeme Gwyn.
