Police investigating the suspected murder of a 15-year-old girl have searched a flat less than half a mile from where she was last seen nearly seven years ago.

Paige Chivers disappeared after she boarded a bus in Bispham, Blackpool, near her family home in August 2007.

Since then, four people have been arrested on suspicion of her murder and released without charge.

Today, the man leading the inquiry, Detective Superintendent Andy Webster, of Lancashire Constabulary, said detectives and forensic scientists searched premises in All Hallows Road, Bispham, yesterday following a renewed appeal for information last week in which a £30,000 reward was offered.

Mr Webster said: "Since last week we have spoken to a significant number of people, some who have previously featured in the inquiry and some who have not.

"Yesterday, we undertook a forensic search at an address on All Hallows Road. It has been nearly seven years since Paige disappeared and in that time forensic techniques have become more and more advanced.

"In particular, DNA testing and analysis has become more sensitive and I am hopeful that this will assist in the work that is being undertaken today."

He added: "I would like to thank the public for their response to last week's appeal and continue to appeal to them that, if they have any piece of information, no matter how small, about Paige's murder, about her movements over the August Bank Holiday weekend in 2007, or any information about her lifestyle, to come forward and speak to us.

"I would also extend this appeal to any persons who may have information but may be reluctant to come forward due to fear, intimidation or bullying.

"Finally, if someone does have information, but is reluctant to come forward due to fears arising either from their own involvement in criminality or they may have played a minor role in assisting Paige's killer or killers, I would still ask them to come forward and speak to us.

"Our primary objective remains to identify Paige's killer or killers and recover her body so her family can lay her to rest."

Paige left her home in Longford Avenue, Bispham, on August 23 2007 following a family row and boarded a bus in nearby Ashfield Road, heading in to the resort.
