Miliband in whirlwind poll campaign

Andover Advertiser: Labour leader Ed Miliband. Labour leader Ed Miliband.

Ed Miliband is to make a whirlwind campaign tour of 10 locations in five regions of England in a day, on the eve of tomorrow's council and European elections.

Aides said that t he Labour leader will use each of the 10 visits - taking him from London to his Doncaster constituency via towns in the South East, East of England, East Midlands and Yorkshire & Humberside - to highlight one of the 10 pledges from his "cost-of-living" contract with voters.

Urging voters to "vote Labour to make your family better off", Mr Miliband will say that his party has used the campaign for the May 22 elections to English councils and the European Parliament to unveil "positive" policies on rent caps, zero-hours contracts, guaranteed access to GPs and boosting the minimum wage.

And he will say that by contrast, the other parties have offered "nothing other than a policy vacuum and political posturing".

Mr Miliband said: "I will be going all round England - north and south, east and west - laying out Labour's 10 pledges from our cost-of-living contract.

"I will be urging people to vote Labour on Thursday because I know Britain can do better than this.

"And it is Labour MEPs and Labour councillors who can help deliver.

"We have shown in this campaign the difference we can make: on housing, on the NHS, on wages, on immigration, on all of the major issues the country faces."

The Labour leader added: "If I have heard one message most of all in this campaign, it is the depths of discontent about the way the country is run.

"The challenges go beyond this Government. And people are asking whether any political party can turn it round?

"Can anyone rebuild the link between a hard day's work and ordinary family finances?

"That link that used to be the foundation of our country's prosperity. That used to guarantee the people of this country a decent life for them and their families.

"My answer is that Labour can and Labour will. People should vote Labour on Thursday to make Britain better than this. Vote Labour to make your family better off."

And rightly so but this is the Tories way of fixing Labour's past mistakes, nothing in your message indicates how you are going to force energy companies to reduce their privateering costs, the ever increasing tax fuel which drives up the cost of everything else up. preventing the rich (individuals and companies) from dogging their fair share of tax. Where your plan to create real jobs with real wages, not temp ones with low paid wages so the unemployed figures can show better results. Labour and Tory have run this country for decades and it has only gotten worse with each successive government, it time for something new.
