Expenses claims made by a police and crime commissioner are being investigated, the police watchdog has said.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is managing an investigation into claims made by Stephen Bett, police and crime commissioner (PCC) for Norfolk.

The inquiry, which is to be carried out by officers from City of London Police under the direction and control of the IPCC, will examine whether claims for expenses made by Mr Bett between November 15 2012 and October 31 2013 were correct.

A complaint about the claims was first sent by Norfolk's police and crime panel to the IPCC last December.

IPCC commissioner James Dipple-Johnstone will oversee the investigation.
