The case of a former Radio 1 DJ accused of sex attacks on children has been adjourned to next month.

Chris Denning, 73, of Basildon in Essex, was due at London's Southwark Crown Court to enter pleas to the charges b ut the case has been adjourned to August 5 at the same court.

Denning was one of the original Radio 1 line-up when the station was launched in 1967.

He was also the first announcer heard on BBC2 when the television channel took to the air in 1964.

Denning was first arrested by detectives from sex crime inquiry Operation Yewtree in June last year.

The alleged offences are mostly against boys aged nine to 16.
