Major exhibitions dedicated to the work of sculptor Barbara Hepworth and the painters Frank Auerbach and Jackson Pollock are among the shows to feature at the Tate's galleries next year.

Tate Britain will feature the first retrospective of Hepworth's career to be staged in London since 1968 when its show opens next summer, while the same venue will examine Auerbach's work from the 1950s to the present day in the autumn.

Pollock's later work, chiefly paintings made between 1950 and 1953 including paintings known as the "black pourings", will be displayed at Tate Liverpool in the summer of 2015.

Tate Modern's highlights next year will include an exhibition dedicated to Alexander Calder, a pioneer of kinetic sculpture renowned for his mobiles and a look at Pop Art in the 1960s and 1970s.

The late fashion designer Alexander McQueen will also be celebrated at Tate Britain, with a display of photographs taken by Nick Waplington as he created the final collection before his death in 2010.

Tate St Ives will host a solo exhibition by contemporary artist Jessica Warboys in its programme of events.
