Liverpool are closing in on a deal for England and Southampton striker Rickie Lambert, according to reports.
A figure of £4million plus add-ons is the anticipated fee, with BBC Sport saying Lambert could complete a medical on Saturday ahead of England's trip to Miami the following day.
A similar bid from West Ham for the 32-year-old was rejected in January but Lambert is believed to be keen on a move to Liverpool, where he spent five years as a youth player before being released.
The former Bristol Rovers, Stockport and Rochdale forward scored 14 goals in 39 games for Saints last season.
Liverpool were unavailable for comment when contacted by Press Association Sport on Thursday night.
